Daily Assignments
Monday, September 12: Students completed the "Repeating Decimals" poster that was started on Friday. As they finished, they completed the Repeating Decimals Revisited worksheet.
Homework: Finish worksheet and continue working on POW #2. Misplaced your POW#2 --- see bottom of page!
Tuesday, September 13: We had our science pre-assessment today. After the test, we completed a warm-up "I know what I know about..." changing repeating decimals to fractions. We created a graphic organizer for square roots and cube roots and discussed how to classify rational and irrational numbers using their decimal equivalents. Students completed a worksheet "Is It Rational" to prepare for a partner activity on classifying rational and irrational numbers.
Homework: Finish worksheet --- will discuss in class tomorrow
Wednesday, September 14: We had our ELA pre-assessment today. After the test, students worked with a partner on an activity in which they classified rational and irrational numbers. After a discussion of the activity, students completed a formative assessment to show what they had learned.
Homework: Continue working on POW #2
Thursday, September 15: We had our math pre-assessment today. Due to the length of the test, we were unable to have math class today.
Homework: POW #2 due tomorrow
Friday, September 16: Today, we learned how to estimate irrational square roots by creating a graphic organizer. Students then completed a flowchart in which they rewrote the steps in their own words. They practiced the steps by estimating and plotting three irrational square roots on a number line. Students were given the new POW which is due next Friday.
Homework: POW #3 --- Marcella's Bagels due next Friday (see link at bottom of page)
Monday, September 19:
I have uploaded the answers to POW #1 --- Labor Day since today is last day I will accept the assignment. I plan to upload all answers to the POWs after the final due date has passed. See below for the solutions. In class today, we worked on comparing and ordering real numbers.
Homework: Finish Comparing and Ordering worksheet
Tuesday, September 20:
In class today, we discussed using inverse operations when working with powers and roots. Students completed a scavenger hunt to practice solving square and cube equations.
